In the town San Juan y Martinez, in the Vuelta Abajo, there is a wrought-iron gate with the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey, Jose Gener, 1860", which indicates that Mr. Gener used to be a tobacco grower before he registered his mark in 1865. Although it keeps its traditional packaging, this mark has undergone deep changes. Hoyo de Monterey cigars are the best new generation cigars, more pliable, with great draw and excellent burning properties, with just right fragrance and flavor, and no excess of light (lager) tobacco in blend. Nearly all sizes are usually packed in special sliding cases.
The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey's blend makes it an attractive choice for those who seek a delicate yet aromatic Habano that is slightly mild to the taste but with great elegance and complexity.
